Presented at the Danks National Trade Show and Conference on the Gold Coast on 10 March, the Retailer of the Year Awards celebrate and acknowledge stores that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and success throughout the year, with a range of judging criteria from business growth to overall presentation of their businesses.

Fitzpatrick’s store owners, Richard and Shane Fitzpatrick accepted the awards in front of a national audience of more than 1200 retailers and suppliers.

“We are honoured to win these prestigious awards. It is a credit to all the team’s hard work and dedication over the past year, and recognition of the improvements we’ve been making” said Richard.

“At Fitzpatrick’s we pride ourselves on providing the best in product choice, value and customer service – and to be selected as the state retailer of the year from Australia’s industry leading group is a wonderful endorsement.”

Fitzpatrick’s is an example of a dynamic business evolving to meet the needs of its local customers. As a business, Fitzpatrick’s is continuously developing its exceptional offering to include a wide range of products and services for both the novice and expert handy person, attracting a loyal local customer base.

According to Danks National Retail Operations Manager, Peter Richards, the store’s innovation to set itself apart in the market place made it a stand out in the award categories.

“In today’s changing hardware retail environment, independent retailers need to have the dedication and drive to keep their businesses at the forefront of their market. We are thrilled to recognise those retailers, like Fitzpatrick’s, who work exceptionally hard to set their business apart from its competitors while always staying focused on the needs of their customers,” Mr Richards said.

Fitzpatrick’s have been using Sterland’s ProStix Software since 1999. “For the past 12 years ProStix has allowed me to streamline operations and keep my finger on the pulse of my business. ProStix has been an integral part of Fitzpatrick’s success” observed Richard.

Fitzpatrick’s Home Timber and Hardware have been servicing the Central Victorian town of Eaglehawk, now part of the Greater City of Bendigo, for over 87 years.

Third generation owners Richard and Shane Fitzpatrick have recently relocated the thriving business to a new “superstore” only 3kms from the Bendigo CBD.

The store was officially opened by the then Premier of Victoria Mr. John Brumby. The new site on 16,000m2 has a retail and undercover drive through trade yard of 3500m2, a 400m2 garden centre and over 100 car parks.
